Sharon Kingston is a Bellingham, WA based artist whose works explore landscape through metaphor and poetry.  Her abstracted and atmospheric landscapes seek to offer the viewer both the sensory and subjective allure of abstract painting along with the emotional draw of landscape painting.  A group of paintings she calls the Reading Rilke Series are inspired by the writings and poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke and the atmosphere which is the Pacific Northwest.  Sharon's paintings are minimalist at first glance, but with contemplation offer depth and mystery.  She employs layers of transparency and gradations of color and a minimalism of form to reproduce, as Edgar Allen Poe would call art, “what the senses perceive in nature through the veil of the mist”. And hoping, as always, to say something meaningful with paint on canvas.

Currently on exhibit at Fountainhead Gallery, Seattle and Willows Inn, Lummi Island and at the artist's studio in Bellingham WA
