My September Issue: A Sky Painting Project

Inspired by the re-emergence of mist and clouds, I’m hoping for this painting project to speak to finding a space everyday to wander our thoughts and awe at the majesty and mystery of the natural world.  Summer felt so outward–outside, blue skies, energy–and so these cloud filled skies become more about turning inward and slowing down and the kind of contemplation that clouds and mist can invoke.  The paintings will act as a sort of mapping of the sky–a September issue–to document the transient beauty of our everyday and remind us to pause and let our minds wander/wonder and maybe associate what we see with what we felt or were thinking at the time.  They will be shown, en masse, at my studio during Studio Tour on October 5/6 and 12/13.

I’d welcome images from others, and prefer current sky photos un-enhanced or unfiltered. Please send me your images along with the where and what you were thinking or doing to sharonkingston@me.com  I’ll let you know if I can use your photo as a source photo. No sunsets, please.

“Things aren’t all so tangible and sayable as people would usually have us believe; most experiences are unsayable, they happen in a space that no word has ever entered, and more unsayable than all other things are works of art, those mysterious existences, whose life endures beside our own small, transitory life” ~Rainer Maria Rilke
